September 7, 2023 – Regular Council Meeting

The regular council meeting convened at 6:00 PM.
Present for public participation was Heather Wesley. Heather gave an update on the Fall Festival. She would like vendors to register by October 1 but will take any late comers.
A report was given by the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department.
A report was given by the City Assessor.
A report was given by the Department of Public Works.
Bills totaling $156,026.72 were approved.
Motion carried to accept Traffic Order #24.
Motion carried to table parcel reconfiguration discussion to next month.
Committee reports were given.

August 3, 2023 – Regular Council Meeting

The regular council meeting convened at 6:00 PM.
Present for public participation were Susanne Carpenter, Paul Starzynski, Scott Marcoe, Kurt Wangerin, and Adam Olson on behalf of the Stephenson School District. Also present were Steve Gromala, District 1 Commissioner from Menominee County and Connie Westrich, 6th District Commissioner from Menominee County and City resident.

A report was given by the Department of Public Works.
Bills totaling $156,843.28 were approved.
Motion carried to proceed with Civic Plus proposal in the amount of $11,670.00 for codification, publishing, and online hosting of City Charter, Code, and Zoning.

The regular council meeting convened at 6:00 PM.
Lindsay Kozikowski and Joe Truitt were present for public participation on behalf of the American Legion which is arranging the July 4th parade.

Motion carried to approve the Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Lease.

May 22, 2023 – Public Hearing & Special Meeting

The Public Hearing regarding Resolution #23-03 Water System Improvements was held at 5:00 PM. There was no public participation.
The special council meeting convened at 5:15 PM.
Motion carried to adopt Resolution #23-03 Water System Improvements.
Category B funding for street repairs was discussed.
2022/2023 budget amendments were discussed.

May 4, 2023 – Regular Council Meeting

The Public Hearing for the budget for fiscal year 2023/2024 was held at 5:45 PM. There was no public participation.
The regular council meeting convened at 6:00 PM.
Heather Wesley was present for public participation on behalf of the Concerts in the Park program and the Menominee County Small Business Association.
A report was given by the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department.
A report was given by the City Assessor.
A report was given by the Department of Public Works.
Bills totaling $108,058.06 were approved.
Motion carried to adopt the fiscal year 2023/2024 budget.
Motion carried to approve the Treasurer’s Report.

April 6, 2023 – Regular Council Meeting

The regular council meeting convened at 6:00 PM.
A report was given by the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department.
A report was given by the City Assessor.
A report was given by the Department of Public Works.
Bills totaling $121,130.11 were approved.
Motion carried to accept DTE proposal in the amount of $4,552.00 and Menza & Zac Heating proposal in the amount of $4,300.00 to run/install gas lines for Municipal Building generator.
Jennifer MacDonald and Lori Tickler spoke on behalf of the Menominee County Great Start Collaborative requesting Council consideration of a Book Walk installation. Consensus was to move forward with the Book Walk installation.
Motion carried to adopt Resolution #23-01 Menominee County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Motion carried to contribute $100.00 to the UPSET program.
Motion carried to accept proposed 2023-2024 utility rate increases.
Motion carried to accept Menominee County Agreement for Fire Department 800 MHz Radio Equipment.
Motion carried to adopt Resolution #23-02 MERS Authorized Signatories. Plan updates were also accepted.
Motion carried to contribute $200.00 to the Veteran’s Memorial Day Fund.

Bob Desjarlais, Lake Township Supervisor, and Heather and Dan Wesley of the Menominee County Small Business Association were present for public participation.

Motion carried to donate $200.00 from the DDA Fund to the Easter Egg Hunt to be held April 1, 2023 (tentative).

The regular council meeting convened at 6:00 PM.
Mike Zemba and Jim Doyen representing the Mid-County Antique Power club and resident Scott Carhoun were present for public participation.

Motion carried to increase Mayor and City Council salary 5% for the next two years.
Motion carried to accept proposal from Miscauno Tax Assessing, LLC in the amount of $7,665.00 annually plus $500.00 per year expenses for assessing services for a term of three years.
Motion carried to adopt Nicolet National Bank resolution to update signers on Repair, Replacement, and Improvement account.
